Back At The Chicken Shack

Set up another hanging planter nest today since the hens seem to love them. Been getting eggs since I set up the first one. I put wood eggs in them. Seems to be working as a nesting option while we tear down and rebuild stuff.

Well it’s been awhile as we have been crazy busy. Right now we are working on redoing the backyard, getting ready for spring. The girls aren’t laying right this now. I hope everyone is having a great holiday season.

It’s been storming this Saturday so when the Sun is up I will need to do some storm related clean up.

We are going to try and grow a few “giant” pumpkins this year.

Stay safe everyone.

Ok sewer line fixed, phone line working, new TTY on its way.

Hubby has been removing mud off of walkways in the backyard. Back deck steps have been repaired.

Hopefully this week I can get back working on beds, and chicken area improvements. I think I want to add boards along their areas fencing, it will prevent little ones from ducking under and getting out. This weekend I need to clip their wings too

I need to take some pictures but so far the garlic is growing, I have some baby onion plants planted, did a few improvements to the little coop area. I plan to get a bigger run up soon. I am hoping to recycle an old steel and tarp car port into either a green house or run sometime this spring. I will be starting some seeds soon.

We had a few hens pass but also took in a few adult hens. So I need to consider where we are taking the flock as far as goals. I am thinking on what I want. One part of me loves long tailed breeds, another goofy Naked Necks and bantams are so darn cute. Sigh I just like chickens I’m hopeless. I thought about breeding mini Naked Necks. However with my states wack a noodle laws standard sized large birds for good sized eggs is sounding better and better.
