Back for a second try - after improvements and upgrades

Good advice! - I have not filled all res. with water to see how high - I've easily had it over 50% with 1/2 of 1 res filled & I still have an entire second one. So I'm thinking I will be OK.

For the air flow - interesting idea. I have 4 - 1 inch vents plus the two side vents where the turner comes through. i was thinking about plugging (or partially) these because I noticed a cold draft last time. I wonder if there is a cheap way to measure o2

I was just wondering that too. We all have thermometers and hygrometers, but I've never heard of anyone with a oxygen-meter.
Maybe that's going to be the next big thing in incubating, and we thought of it first. LOL!

OK - Update.

I learn something each time. I love it.

I was sure my new paint tray water/humidity control would be the bomb & work like a charm.

When lockdown time came - I added lots of hot water & the humidity shot up to 75% right away. I was tickled.

When I checked back in 30 minutes the humidity was at 40%. I was shocked! How is this possible?

Well - I discovered I had way too much air flow! I plugged all but 1 of my air holes & the humidity slowly creaped up to the 75% range again.

All this time I was worried about not having enough air & I really had way too much.

Well - As of right now 5 of my 9 (I think 1 is dead though) have hatched & I have 1 large pip that's been pipped for a good long time now. Im just today on day 21 so the remaining 2 I know were alive at lock down will get another couple days just to be sure.

I can say - the higher humidity has been great!

I dont' have pics - I'm at work & they are at home on the camera.

Funny thing is - these are aracauna & buff orpington hens crossed with my black silkie rooster (fox ate my good rooster - see predator forum) and all 5 that have hatched look exactly like the father - black silkies with feathered feet. I wonder what they will look like in 3 weeks?
