Took the family to our first 'real' chicken show today. It was really cool to see all the chickens ready for judging and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tempting not to come home with some of those adorable bantams!!

Asher, we saw your van, but no body was home when we walked by, so didn't get to meet you in person.

Anyway, it was a great family outing this morning and I highly recommend that if you haven't been to a show and you get the chance....GO!!

Ah man! I'm sorry!!! :-( My boys were likely in the van playing video games! hehe My friend kept pulling me around to see what we could buy! ;-)

Glad you all enjoyed yourselves! I didn't see any birds I had to have (though I was very tempted by some of the bantam cornish laced!), but did buy two dozen eggs from Star Cochins.

It was nice to see all of the birds, old friends and new friends.

Sorry we missed you! :-( Hope you took a flyer for NCPoultry2 and some candy! hehe

I had to drive a backup vehicle as my ride bailed and I loaned out my good truck ..

It was nice meeting you Asher .. I ended up with 1 Bantam Barred Rock $9 (10 months old and laying) and 1 of that Cochin ladys Black Bantam Cochins $15 (also laying) .. the Cochin hen is so sweet .. she jumps in my lap!

It was my first real show .. and lots of people turned me down on offers to purchase a hen and no Rooster

, seems pairs are the favorite sell. I really wanted a couple of the speckled hamburg bantams, but the lady wouldnt sell just a hen or 2 without selling a roo too

.. and I didnt see any faverolles which i was hoping for .. but it was very fun and I learned a good bit just from watching and listening. .. \\

and I also bought a cage that would fit in the cab of my truck for $7

whew .... Mark

Oh good! So glad you got another hen. Sorry you couldn't find more. :-( Yes, seems people had an overabundance of roos and the best way to deal with that is onl sell hens with roos. heh

Cochins are our favorites. :) They think they are two legged dogs, I swear.
