Back in the Saddle Again! I'm Quilting a Fall Table Runner (Pics)

My good pal Ladyhawk (Cetawin on BYC, for those who don't know) gave me this book about table toppers and runners for all seasons awhile back. Now, it has lots of applique, which I just cannot do, never could, but I am making a table runner for fall to sell in our shops. I'm chain piecing, quilting for the first time in many, many months, since from before the house fire back in March. Yea! It will be hand quilted like all my stuff since I couldn't machine quilt if you gave me a thousand bucks.

Here is my project in progress. Runner is 16 small log cabin blocks and several borders. Will be minus the pumpkin appliques, as I said. I hate Halloween stuff, but LOVE fall stuff, so this is a great project. Can you hear the singing?? I'm back in the saddle againnnnnnnnn!!!

Today, Sunday, the center is ready for the outer border (will be the orangey gold leaf fabric rather than pumpkins since that is Autumn-like and I have it already).

This evening, the top is complete. Binding, after the quilting part, will be one of my medium to dark greens.



Ready to quilt. Will use "Old Gold" thread in the log cabin blocks and "Brown" at the outer edges so it shows up better on the gold leaves. Will be using an oak leaf template I made for another project last year.

That turned out so pretty....now I want to make one! And I love it that you hand quilt it. Some of the machine quilting is amazing but I still think the old fashioned way is best.
Your book looks like it's from Lynette Jensen of Thimbleberries.

It is a Thimbleberries book, yep. The fabrics are from my stash, though some might coincidentally be Thimbleberries fabrics, not sure. Thank you for the compliment! You ought to do a table runner. It's gratifying to get a project completed quickly, even with hand quilting.

Started quilting this bed runner I had pieced, except for the outer border, prior to the house fire back in March. Was hard to get back into it, but completing the table runner helped jumpstart my interest again.
