My first flock had marans and they have been my absolute favorite, along with the Ausstralorp! Hoping I get more hens than roos as I can't have a rooster in my town . Feather sexing only works for breeds that are sexlinked for fast and slow feather growth. It is not very common. Note: you have to be breeding two different breeds to do this. Your chicks do not look like they were from different breeds

Usually you can tell at about 6 weeks old depending on the breed

I feather sexed australorps, and barred rocks at TSC before. The 8 I have now are marans and easter eggers. I already have my suspicions on 1 marans in particular lol!
