Back to the nest box

Did the reply with the pics and explanation work or I still need to learn how to do that?
You did good!

Thanks for the further explanation. I made a load of escape routes and hidey places in my run and it worked pretty well. My chicks were 3 weeks old when I introduced them to the flock with their mama. They spent a week before that in the run behind a wire divider. See below for ideas.

Thank You ChicalinaI wasn’t thinking small enough- that I can manage for them until I get help with the outer one.
That double decker in your pic! I keep checking local listings for something similar to make a nicer set up for solo needed or brooding someday again in the far future. Ha unless like my last min flock of silkies. One hen Brooded 11 at 7 months (in cold winter) and never went broody again in almost 9 years. Maybe she hated the laundry room 🙃
Thank you so much for your help.

When you on a reply box there is attach files tab bottom left .. find them where you have them upload hope that helps
Thank you, I had that part maybe it was the as thumbnails or preview part I slipped up on. I’m so glad not to have the old way of run to library to read or try to find someone with experience, but I think some days I could inadvertently break the internet 🤓

you are welcome!

it is just an old double rabbit hutch that I fixed up and painted. Works really well as a broody house, isolation ward, or prison camp! It is in the run and useful as a mini coop because the doors can be locked shut.

A dog crate with a tarp over it works just as well. I've got one of those too!

Make sure you put lots of clutter in your run and the chicks will have plenty of places to hide or jump up to.

Good luck with the integration. I think it is better done early.

Ive got my next lot of chicks to do next.
