Now I am really wondering about getting backyard dragons. Do you think I should?

Tho the parents keep their draclings safe in a nice hot firepit under their scaly vents, when we puny humans incubate we have to remember to keep the draclings between 800 and 1000 degrees (fahrenheit) for the first three months and seven days.

After that, its 700-800, and a more humid, swampy environment, ideally, as you say, with swirling sulfur gases to make up for any maternal sulfur deficiencies. Then there's the spare room for the 12x8 incubator and the seven electrical sockets.

Still, I think its sounds like a gas. Who's in with me?

You've got to read Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. Lady Sybil Ramkin raises pet swamp dragons and is quite the authority.
