I just signed up for backyard herds and I was wondering I any one knows how to start a thread there it kinda different

I have an account on there, but I am not on it enough to know how with out looking at it, you could try asking Nifty Chicken..

I have an account on BYH. To start a new thread:
1. make sure you've read their little email
2. go to the forum you want to make a new thread in
3. scroll to the very bottom and click "post new thread". (it should be on the right bottom.)
