In order for the Double Dwarf Gene to presen itself BOTH parents must carry the gene, there for not breeding a doe because she carries it is the wrong thinking.
Breeding netherlands, mini Rex,lionheads etc( small breeds who all carry the double dwarfing gene) you will run head long into this problem, best you can do is breed the does anyway, as long as a whole litter doesnt contain peanuts you are safe.
You should breed know carriers of this gene to false dwarfs to ward off the peanuts.
Most dwarf breeds only weigh between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lbs, a false dwarf will weigh 3 to 4 lbs, there for eliminating the deadly dwarfing gene. the result will be over size kits and typical dwarfs.
I have to add that if you had 2 peanuts survive by being fostered off to another doe then those were not peanuts, they were typical dwarfs Peanuts only survive for 1 to 4 days. their internal organs are not developed enough to support life for more than a few days.
I definately agree there is a need for a back yard rabbit forum on this site , I have already found a lot of mis information on this read.
