Backing out after paying a deposit?

Oh I'm saving everything. Might have to buy another ink cartridge to print it all out. It's obvious that he was strange from the start- tons of emails, and if I didn't respond in like 5 minutes he'd accuse me of ignoring him. Talk about paranoid! I'm fortunate to have never met the dude in person.

These pieces are going to be mint- so we'll get our money in the long run. But what kind of person sues somebody just for spite?

People sue for everything! OMG I didn't get a pickle on my hamburger I'm calling my lawyer! I spilled a hot drink on me you should have made my hot drink cold! LOL

Is there some other reason he is even more upset than in a normal situation or is he just crazy? Was this supposed to be for a gift or a special event or something?

I said 6 weeks- give or take, depending on the weather. It would have been delivered at 8 weeks, with a discount. He also changed his design several times during construction.

If he changed his design several times during the course of building the piece and you have those emails, then you have valid claim of it being later than expected! Let him take you to court.

I would make him sue me just to be a jerk...but I'm like that.

When custom material is purchased, I think it is unreasonable to demand a refund. Ask? YES...and if the seller is willing to help, great. If not, well you can't blame them. Demand and threaten? HELLLLLL no!

No- it's just for their place in NYC. He's been on me like flies on &%%% since day one. My husband and I were joking that maybe he was bi-polar or something. One day he'd be happy and excited, the next he's freaking out because there weren't new pictures, then the next day he's happy again.

Maybe you should read the whole thread before you post...she has said what it's about.

Perhaps I misunderstood because of the the "chicks for example". Was it chicks? Then say chicks. But my original advice stands. If this tiny thing is such an issue it's no wonder we have wars. How much is involved? Truth is the OP is looking for validation to NOT give back the deposit. If they don't it's no big deal, it doesn't mean their a bad person.. Does the term Mountain out of a mole hill , set off an alarm.

Yesterday a friend was backing out of her driveway and hit my car. I didn't make half a big a deal as everyone here is, over what is probably a small amount. Does anyone know what "magnamemus" means , good cuz I can't spell it but I know what it means.

She posted that it was custom piece of furniture. Monogamous means having a single mate during a period of time, but what does that even have to do with this post?

Rant away. He really does sound like his elevator doesn't go to the top floor. I still think maybe you are better to just cut your losses and move on. Your work is so beautiful. Couldn't you just complete it and sell it to someone else? I know you shouldn't have to take a loss, but maybe it is worth it to be done with this grief.

I believe the word was magnanimous. Generous and understanding: generous in forgiving an insult or injury; free from petty resentfulness or vindictiveness: to be magnanimous toward one's enemies.

However, in this instance, she has a right to keep the deposit.
