I have a chicken that seems to have a lot of irritation in backside. Is this normal?

Does anyone know what this is?
How is it treated ?
It’s been like this for about ten days

Thanks!

Hard to see exactly in the picture, but she may have a prolapsed vent. It can happen from straining to lay an egg, or with constipation. The pink tissue that is exposed should be kept from drying out by using honey, hydrocortisone cream, or vaseline. When able, try to push it back inside. It may come back out for a few days. Sometimes giving a human calcium tablet with vitamin d3 will help the prolapse go back inside. Make sure that she is able to poop. Here is some reading about prolapses:

I will try to apply cream an push it back in. Ugh..
Thank you !

Read the article above. Prolapsed vents are not an infection but due to straining. Let us know if she is not able to poop. Does there seem to be an egg stuck inside her vent? Calcium can help.

I applied antibiotic cream and pushed it back in. She has been laying eggs regularly. Let’s see what happens
Thank you!
