Hi there.

We have several chickens who are recovering from Bumblefoot. They are almost fully healed - they have scabs that are almost ready to fall off. But yesterday we noticed that they have some irritation on their leg scales where the vet wrap is. I don’t think they are ready to be without the bandages yet, but we don’t want them to continue having this irritation. Any advice? Thank you!

Do you just put the vet wrap on straight?
For that section of the foot, yes. On the bottom of the foot and between the toes we put gauze and then vet wrap but then we wrapped the vet wrap up around the “ankle” also so where the irritation is it has just been straight vet wrap touching her leg.

I'd add some gauze there. You can also reduce the area the vet wrap covers. My other tip is to not pull the vet wrap too tight and instead put some tape on it to secure it.

Ok, I can try that. Also, do you have any experience with scaly leg mites? Weve never had them before but I was sort of worried maybe this isn’t just irritation from the vet wrap?
