Hi,

Yesterday we hatched out 4 assorted eggs under a broody speckled Sussex’s with our Dark Brahma Rooster.

1x Vorwerk (chick was black but was crushed a week before birth).

1x Gold Partridge Brahma (Chick was late, pipped, but mums had abandoned the nest and we didn’t get to her in time)

1x Black Araucana (Hen laid blue eggs, beard + hair tufts, no ear muffs and not rumpless): Chick is unexpectedly blonde with hairy feet.

1x Isa Brown: Chick has chipmunk markings and hairy feet like a Brahma + larger than the Araucana.

Any guesses on what colouring these two will have as they grow up?

Will repost updates as they grow!

Cute chicks and beautiful chickens! :love

The chipmunk, one in many breeds, winds up being a partridge color. Those change so much as they grow you don't really know what they'll be until adult. But, always beautiful!

3 week update.

Little isa brown x has silver partridge wings coming through from dad, and appears to be white body from mum.

Black Araucana x dark Brahma has surprisingly grown in a mottled tan/brown partridge!

Almost 5 weeks.

Could go either way on hen vs Roos given their mixed parents, however the ISA x dark brahma has become a beautiful little black and white half partridge, and the black aracauna cross dark Brahma is a light buff colour with half partridge. Odd!

Hard to believe the tea coloured girl came from a black hen and a dark Brahma! The beautiful white girl is our Isa brown cross.

I know when we were waiting for them to grow up we were so curious as to how they’d turn out - so I hope this helps someone one day!
