Backyard Brahmas!!

Vickis Girls I agree predators are bad news. I butchered over 70 birds last fall. They were all raised with the best of everything....friends and neighbors think I'm nuts for going overboard with my chicken's care. Because I knew they had a great life and an easy death it didn't bother me but the one hen I lost to a predator I still cry about. Crazy eh?

There is a swap on the 27th. I think I'll take some chicks and a couple roos and see what happens. The one roo looks a lot like Rocky and he is such a nice bird I would love to find him a good home.
I don't think there is a big market in this area for SQ Brahmas so I think I'll start another flock with 'colors'. Sjisty if you are selling eggs or have another auction would you let me know? Your birds are so nice I think their value as pets would be far greater than the best SQ so maybe it would be easier to find homes for them. That way I can have the best of both worlds...raise the Brahmas that I love and know that some will make people happy as pets.

I need to get to town for feed...have a good day all.
Hi Huntress - I'm still filling orders from my last sale. I have 8 more dozen to fill, I think. Then I'll be opening sales again.

That's perfect for me. It's still kind of cold here for shipping eggs right now and I always keep an extra incubator open just in case.

Please put me on your list or just let me know...Thanks much!

Good thing the boyfriend already knows that we are building pens this year....it'll be easy to sneak in a couple more.

Has anyone here ever had scaly leg mites with their feather-footed Brahmas before? We have a case of it with both our birds and have been putting vaseline on every other day. The dirt sticks to the vaseline, making the girl's white feet lieterally black. They are a sight...

Vicki, I don't have a problem with selling 1/2 dozen, but I'm still trying to catch up on my orders. Ask me again in about a month and a half.

Does the Vaseline work? There are sprays and powders made to kill mites too....maybe you could try one of those. Don't forget to clean the coop several times in the next few weeks to kill any mites hiding there.
Good luck.

Oh, I'm in no hurry! I know you've got orders to fill, I watched when you opened up egg sales, and they really were going like hotcakes! I had to control myself to keep from ordering. It was the "dozen" part that scared me off.
I'm so excited that you'll sell a smaller amount! Okay, expect to hear from me about this on June 1st!

Thanks, I'm gonna have a great day!!!

p.s. I've never incubated eggs before. I'm going to be looking for a little 'bator. I guess they come with instructions. If not someone on here will be able to help me figure it out?
O.m.g. I can hardly sit still!
