Backyard Brahmas!!

Bumpercarr why are you suprised at the shepherd. I have had many different types of dog's with chickens and the shepherd's would alway get the chickens. The other's would to but nothing like the shepherd's. The shepherds were just snikie about it. Were the other's didn't care if you were right there or not. Sorry that you lost one. They become part of the fam. And it's hard to loss

Didn't lose one, lost almost the whole flock with the exception of the two pullets that were injured and the chicks that were in the house brooder. Shouldn't be surprised what the breed was....seems like even the best dogs can get "excited" by flapping chickens and decide to go after them. Even my own have done it but I usually catch them before they can do too much damage. Anyway, I'm moving on but the only difference is that now I'm always armed and ready to kill anything that comes to visit that is not welcome. Plus, I've turned the coop area into Fort Knox, if anything can get in there now then they probably deserve to eat chicken for dinner.

my babies laid their first eggs today

Do all brahma chick's have feathers on their feet and legs when hatched? I ordered dark, light and buff brahmas and only 1 has feathers on her legs. I also ordered a light brahma roo and he looks like a lighter chipmunk color and no feathers. I'm convinced I did not get the correct chicks. I ordered from my feed store who orders from Mt healthy hatchery. I don't want me stressed over this or my babies. Aby suggestions? Help! Advice?
