I've asked for a Sportsman 1502 for Christmas.....we'll see if hubby bites, but I figure I've got about 6 months to talk him into it. Good luck on the hatch! Hope all goes well and make sure you keep us updated.

So, I was messing around with my hatchery babies...and noticed my Brahma's...one was a bit different looking than the others.

Then I placed it...no tail feathers yet..ahaha. It's the one I keep calling my boy (hatchery tossed in an extra chick, and extra chick ended up being a Buff Brahma). Heaviest feathering on the legs from the get go...and no real tail feathers yet...also seems to hold himself in high esteem/stands proud and has a chunkier feel to him. So I'm going with he's a boy...lol

But dang if these aren't some of the cuddliest little birds ever.

They are cuddly aren't they? Mine just hangs in my arms like a rag doll with his little feet dangling and his head lying against my arm.

3 of the 4 meet me at the door of their brooder pen every day--food or no food in my hands. LOL And when I have them out, they want to climb up my arm and nestle up against my neck on my shoulder.

I only have one other super friendly baby, and it's a buckeye..lol

I have one like that 6.5 weeks old. I know he is a cockerel but he has the heaviest feathering on the feet so can't get myself to give him up yet. Plus he is the only one that snuggles with my 4 week old Legbar chicks. Rest of them beat them up pretty bad.

Ok. Got a close-up shot so you can see her comb. Thoughts? Brahma or not? Her coloring is exactly the opposite of most I see. She's white shoulders up and has the darker feathers in a pattern down her back. Her tail has the darkest feathers.

Oh and excuse the teal paint on her beak. I was doing some painting and she had to investigate. =)
