Backyard Brahmas!!

Pics
What's not to love about Brahmas?! They are so sweet. So tell me, are the roos nice too? I would love to get some Dark Brahmas some day.
I can't really think of anything bad to say about my light rooster. He's good to the girls, feeds them, dances for them, protects them. He's calm and keeps order among the cockerels with little more than a look and a wing flap....they respect him. He's also easy to handle and has the deepest crow I've ever heard....I love to hear him in the morning!

AWWWW!!!!!

Too cute... So glad you got your Brahma girls! Are they buffs?
Thanks, Sk8inChick(en)! I'm sort of hoping someone can tell me. I ordered four buffs and two lights. Three were DOA, and so I'm guessing Sophie and Bonnie are probably buffs, and Maggie(on the right) would be a light, even though she's darker. I'd put the pic. in this post, but don't know how, so if maybe you'd go back a page to post # 387, you could take a guess.

I would say that is correct. Buff, buff, Light (L-R)

Thanks, SD Bird Lady. They're two weeks old...any suggestions as to treats they might like? They won't touch strawberries or watermelon. They each took a little piece of lettuce, but won't eat it. I've got chick grit in the brooder just in case you're wondering. I've heard old fashioned oats are a favorite, but don't know if I should soak it or grind it up or anything. Any ideas?

Here's a side view. My other is just on the other side so you see some of her tail. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Mine always liked watermelon. However; it takes them awhile to recognize "foreign" objects as food. Mine like left over oatmeal but they can make a mess.

The tail feathers are beginning to look more rooish and he is standing more upright but I am still only at about 60/40. My hens are much less leggy than this bird.

I'd say that's exactly right. So sorry you had some DOA! That's why I'm getting my new ones from a breeder. I can't take that.

At two weeks, I'm not sure if they'll eat that much variety, but I know they would like scrambled eggs. We gave ours mealworms at that age, as well as some rolled oats, plain and dry.
Good luck! They may remain picky all their lives, though. Ask me how I know...

Hmm. S/he is looking a tad roo-ish, judging by those hackles. But be on the lookout for saddles and sickles! Good luck!
