It's raining here this morning so her foot feathers are all matted down but here's the pics....Light rooster over a dark hen cross, she's 6 weeks old today.
She is beautiful! Now I'm more excited than ever to see how these babies turn out
We have a mixed flock, but the Brahmas are quickly becoming my favorite of the chicks. They are so laid back and easy going! We let them out of the "grow-up pen" to wander around the yard for a bit yesterday. They made their way over to the adult pen and snuggled up to my JG through the fence. The EE babies ran for cover
Mine lay 5 or 6 days in a row and then skip a day. I'm guessing they lay every 26 to 28 hours because they may lay early in the morning one day then it gets later and later in the day till they skip a day completely.
Mine lay similar to how Huntress described. I think the stats on 2-3 eggs per week are geared towards the "pure" Brahmas. Brahma breeders are more concerned with type and color etc... Hatcheries breed for egg production since that is what the majority of their clients are after.
I got mine from a swap, so I am not sure where the parents came from. If they don't lay as well, I could always get a couple hatchery hens to breed back to.
