Backyard Brahmas!!

This is what I got from a Welsummer cockerel and Buff Brahma pullet.

I have a question, I have no experience with the pea comb and am wondering about the whole "3 rows vs 1 row" when does this difference in roos and hens start to show up and is it really discernable by how old? I thought I maybe got a roo of the 2 Brahmas I picked up but they are now going on 5 weeks and their little non existent combs look exactly alike, and they look exactly like the 2 Easter Eggers I brought home at the same time. I am starting to think the late feathering was just that and maybe I really do have 4 hens but would love to know when that comb difference starts to show up.
The experienced eye can see the difference at hatch, otherwise it might take a couple weeks before the combs are big enough to tell the difference.

Does being fully feathered (Well, all except the pin feathers under the wings anyway) by 7 weeks have anything to do with brahmas being cockerel or pullet? This little one is at 6.5wks here...
but now a week later it's comb is getting darker and wider. I'm anxious because out of 4 'pullets' I bought 1 is definitely a roo, this one may be and I'm waiting out an easter egger, too. I can post more pics tomorrow. if you let me know what shots to get.

THanks!

I would suggest getting a comb shot
notice it is pretty close and clear and head on.

A shot showing the leg girth . This can also show the stance.
These shots are of my just over 9 week Brahma, as you can tell, I am pretty sure he is a roo. 3 rows of the pea comb showing very blatantly, he has huge legs, he has a very upright stance. Personality wise, he bosses around the other chicks. They got introduced to the big hens yesterday and though he was scared stiff he tried to stand up to one of them to protect his favorite girl.
Hiswattles are starting to develop
And he is 2x the size of his favorite girl the other Brahma.

Okay... I asked you guys this before but he/she is really worrying me, I think I see three rows on the comb. Is this a boy or girl bantam buff brahma?

And this is one that looks most like a pullet

They are 8 weeks old today

Sorry violets, that age is a really awkward one and I don't want to throw my hat in the ring with a guess. I usually "sex" mine by a week old with feathering rates and stick with it, so far it's never steered me wrong. Good luck! Maybe someone else with more knowledge will chime in.

@Violetsfeathers
I am not experienced with the pea comb before this year but after much research and my own highly suspected roo Light Brahma I would be guessing male for your top one but honestly mine is much more pronounced at 9 weeks. You can see my pics a little farther up the thread for "his" comb.

After promising pictures it was dark. Sorry this is as good as I could get. I'll try again, but tonight is Cinco De Mayo, so I'm thinking margaritas for the win. Maybe in the morning I can try again. LOL
