Hi all,
I have been keeping chickens for two years now. A year ago I incubated some eggs to add to my little flock. I had four hatch, three of which were hens and one a cockerel. Thankfully the cockerel (a Pekin Bantam) is very quiet so we have been able to keep him. He is called Larry and a firm favourite of my son.
I am currently incubating 25 eggs (down from 27 post candling) for myself and others as all local farms have run out of chickens during lock down. It seems this is a period where all those people who fancied keeping chickens have decided now is the time to start, prompting a real shortage of pullets in our area!
Despite frequenting thIs site often, I had yet to join. I now need advice on salmonella which I have posted in another thread. So I decided it was about time that I registered, not only to gain advice but also give back some advice to others after all the great advice I have read during my more novice chicken owning days!
