Welcome to BYC! I hope you have a huge coop & run, sounds like you're going to need plenty of room.

We built a double coop and have a quarter acre lot, with a 15 ft inclosed run in a fenced in yard area! They will be semi free range, especially in the summer... But had to have a space in the harsh Alaska Winter for outside play, hence the inclosed run!

I'm a work from home mom who took the last week of May and all of June off to get our chickens set up! Lol. My older two kids are old enough to be helpful too. Summer was a good time to do it because you're 100% right! I've had about 9 hours of sleep in 3 days.
