Backyard Chickens Allowed!!! Just passed last night!!!

I went and got my permit this morning.... very smooth!!! The zoning people were asking lots of questions... I gathered they think chickens are untamed beasts!!!

Got a call into the lady where I am getting chickens from ~~~ Can't wait to get the call back that I can come and get them!!!

Thank you for this little shot of good news! Its nice, nice, nice to know of something good and wholesome and productive going on in the world!

p.s. I got my RN degree from Scott Community College in '93 (or '94?). Eastern Iowa is a beautiful chunk of land! But "Beware the Eagles"! We have one bald eagle in town, nearly landed on my house 2 months ago. You know how the bald eagles are, they congregate around the river like a crowd of teenagers scrounging for fish, its hard to tell if the eagles would catch and eat our chicken, or if it just thought "....oh is that little eagles congregating over there? What are they scrounging for? I'll bop down there to see what they're eating"...... at any rate, I'd hate to defend our backyard birds from the talons of one of those........so far, we get along pretty well. But Good Luck! It will be a GREAT learning opportunity!

Congrats! My in-laws live in South Eastern Iowa on the river... I've been trying to talk them into chickens for awhile! I don't even know if they are allowed to have them, but I bet they would love them if they could.

Give a chicken a chance, and it will give you breakfast!
