Backyard Chickens in Winnebago County, IL

I know chickens are not allowed in the city of Rockford. Does anyone know if you can have them if you are outside city limits in Winnebago County, IL? I can't find anything online. Just find articles on the city but nothing outside the city.

You may have to call town officials or someone in your town who would know, and ask. Maybe a town hall or library? Best of luck!

Chickens are permitted in rural agricultural areas ONLY. They are NoOT permitted in R-1 or R-2 areas, i.e., residential areas, in the unincorporated areas of Winnebago County, IL. I checked with Winnebago County Zoning in 2023.
