Backyard chickens need more regulation: Safety of birds and people at stake

I feel like my brain needs triple ply toilet paper after reading that. :th

What really made me roll my eyes was the 'routine veterinary care' thing. There's very few injuries or illnesses I cannot treat my birds for myself, and the remaining things that are beyond me are 95% best treated with an axe anyway.

I don't have a dog in the figurative urban chicken keeping hunt, so perhaps I am missing something—but that's my viewpoint as of now. Uncle Sam and his ilk can go sit in their corners and eat their bland eggs and meat if they want.

Edited for clarification.

I enjoyed the quips on sanitation and manure control not being on par with industry standard. My goodness, not enough chickens have ammonia burns in the world apparently. Malarkey, pure unfiltered malarkey.
