Backyard chickens vs nice backyard

My coop is also limited to 15 sq ft by the city ordinances so i cannot have more than that combined between the coop and the run.

Seriously? Your city ordinances are majorly off kilter. They should not even allow chickens in city limits if they will not allow the property owner to provide adequate housing. Will your city allow a dog kennel? If so, I'd be fighting the current zoning laws.

I live in a city 15 miles south of downtown Los Angeles...so, yeah. They just lifted the ban on hens a year ago too.

Wow! That's awful! 15 sqft is good for about 1.5 birds at the most.

Sorry, i was mistaken. Its 60 sq ft for 4 birds. Oops.
That sounds much better.
As far as a nice lawn, give it up....
....at least the part of lawn where the chicken run should be.

Romance meets Reality.....
....poop happens, trade off for the other butt nuggets haha!

Hosing poop off concrete is going to up the odor factor.
Many ways to deal with the manure.

Now, 60 s.f. That's a number you can deal with. I suggest that you get rid of the rabbit hutch. It's probably not even big enough for a rabbit to live in comfortably. Then, build a coop and run, or even a chicken tractor. But, IMO... chicken tractors rarely are the solution that folks consider them to be. For so very many reasons, they don't get moved as often as they should be, and the grass under them suffers as a consequence.
