My ducks don't stink either and stay very clean. They just make messes with their water and poop random places (like sometimes in food bowl). I keep their house and run very tidy. They do like to slop in the mud but who cares? They will just get in the water and clean off anyway, right? @Jpat I love your pekin and cannot wait to get my little ladies in 11 days

I have two backyard ducks. As ducklings in a brooder, the smell was awful in the house and they were insanely messy. They are both about a year old now, and they live in my fenced back yard. They do poop a lot, but I have never once smelled them. My cayuga can barely get off the ground to fly and my pekin can’t fly at all. The only thing that smells is their coop, because they poop in it like crazy at night. Mostly the coop only smells when it rains. Mine do not tear the yard up. I’ve had chickens before, they did a number on my yard! The only thing my boys do is play in puddles when it rains. They keep the bug population down for sure! Also, they like to poop on my back porch, which I’m not fond of, but I can’t really do anything about that. For me, they are not messy outside and do not stink at all.

I use Mazuri waterfowl maintenance after 8 weeks. I find that it creates very little smell. I use Purina Flock Raiser crumbles for the ducklings. Get very good results but the smell is horrible. We have a party when they reach 8 weeks and switch over. the Mazuri is pretty pricey compared to the Purina, but worth it to me for lack of smell.

Different people have different expectations of what their yard/garden/property should look like. If you are the sort of person that wants to maintain a well manicured property with grass like a golf course, ducks and/or chickens are probably not for you. If you leave your land in a more natural state, and you are ok with muddy patches or bare patches, then you will be just fine with chickens and/or ducks.

They make their own planet surface then lay every day eat bugs mid flight, just try not to share the biprodics with other critters . i only take picture at thier best (4 months old)
