Can you raise a pig in your chicken pen?

I would think Mr. Piggy might decided to wrap all the eggs and chickens up inside that bacon if you get my drift. Some pigs can be very... carnivorous.

Yeap, a pig will eat any chicken it can catch. Also they obviously need much different, and in some respects much more *serious*, fencing than chickens do.

Raising pigs in their own pen with free-ranging chickens is not such a terrible proposition, people do it and usually lose few or no chickens to the pigs; but you would not want the chickens penned *into* the pig pen

When I was growing up we had pigs in a pen, and free ranging chickens. The bantams and EEs survived but the BSLs (heavier, calmer chickens) all got eaten by the pigs.

Pigs will kill and eat chickens.

If the pig died first or went into a coma, the chickens would devour it.

We had a chicken inadvertently end up in the pigpen with 3 pig ladies. They ignored her, BUT if we had left her in there long enough, they would have certainly eaten her. She was unable to get out for some reason. Guess she didn't know what those wings are for.

Pigs are VERY strong. If they are the size of a basset hound, don't think they are the same strength. They are powerful, powerful critters. Think how frail a chicken is. Picture piggy squishing up to chicken.
