Bacterial Contamination of my Fertile Eggs

If you just put them in today, you won't see anything interesting. Each egg is a bit different, so I wouldn't worry about anything till you're a week in. If you've got a good roo, the eggs should come out just fine. In general, if you can avoid opening the bator, that is the best as each time it opens, humidity and temp drops.

I remember reading somewhere that porous shells could be a result of the hens having bacterial infection not the eggs themselves. It was under a site on causes of egg abnormalities. There are lots of other reasons someone could confuse porous eggs with being contaminated eggs. Porous eggs are more sensitive to bacterial contamination since the shell would allow bacteria in easier. They are also less likely to develop if shipped. If you candled a bunch of shipped eggs with some having porous shells those would be the ones most likely to not develop and go bad. The fact they have a porous shell doesn't mean they do have bacteria and are ruined though it just means it's more likely to happen.
