Just wanted to share with the community that I had got my first showgirl. Bad news is that the "breeder" had her/him in an old freezer (power off). She was crammed in there with at least 10 to 16 other chicks. She was also infested with lice. I de-liced and quarantine her from my other flock as recommended. It seems to be doing fine. I can't believe people would breed chickens like this! I'm sure someone would say that by ultimately getting the chicken I am supporting this behavior but I felt sorry for the little one and felt the need to rescue it. Anyone with similar experiences?
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
