Yep, mine too roosting in the rafters of my tall coop. I clipped thier wings (for thier own good) as I am sure they could really break a leg by a not so gracefull landing from up that high. I havent re clipped any wings and no one is interested in roosting up there any more. I have 23 12 week old pullets that I am sure in time will try that rafter roost, I will just clip wings again on them and hopefully they do the same as my year olds and stay out of there
I had to clip wings last summer my 4 babies kept flying on top of the pen instead of inside the pen where they belonged.
The thought of playing chase the chicken down the street was not my idea of fun. I only live 1/2 block from the police station/jail and they always thought about this at shift change that would have given the sheriff's and police officer something to talk about. A crazy woman chasing for chickens down the street.
Your not alone in the hunt for chickens. When we first moved here and didn't have the run up yet we had many chicken round ups. Normally we would "herd" them back into the coop before bedtime, but the times we lost track of time we had to go looking. We found them in the stranges places. Several nights weh where all over the place with flashlights. Even the neighbor was helping a few times. Thank goodness for the runs. And now the silkies and sizzles just go to bed. We only have 1 pen with out a run and they are the only ones that get out to free range. They go to their pen and go to bed. (roost)

we lessened our chasing by putting a fish net on a loooong pole. We rarely have to use int anymore because the only ones that get out we can reach down and pick them up but the guinea roam free and don't take kindly to being caught and they can fly to the top of the trees. We haven't been able to catch them in a while now. I think the last thing I caught in the net was a puppy that didn't want to come when called.
Mine have yet to pull any antics, but I'm waiting.Just a matter of time.My smallest one[the only one with a name]Napolean is the loudest ,and the hardest to catch. She gets a kick out of this!!!
