Some of the green is most like bruising, especially on the upper and lower left in the pic. Not sure about the yellow green though. Does the wound smell bad? Are you cleaning the wound twice a day? Saline, 10%betadine, chlorhexidene, or Vetericyn are all good for cleaning. Then apply the antibiotic ointment. I am pretty sure that Plumbs Veterinary Drug Handbook recommends given amoxicillin for 5 days, but I will double check.

It does have sort of a sweeter smell to it. I am cleaning it with vetericyn and then applying triple antibiotic ointment.

I have also just called an avian vet to see if we can get an appointment. However I am nervous about expenses.

A sweet odor can be due to the bacteria pseudomonas, at least from my experience. Do you have any betadine that you could use the next cleaning time? You can get it at Walmart in the first aid aisle labeled “Equate First Aid Antiseptic for about $6. That should clean it thoroughly, a time or two, and then you can go back to the other.

Did the vet think there was any wound infection, or did it look okay to them? Glad that you got some antibiotics and supplies.

She didn’t exactly say but she did mention that some of the discoloration was bruising.

Yes I’m glad we went too. I just feel better knowing I got a avian vets advice and all of the proper stuff. It was $200 but I feel that it was worth it considering all of the medications I got ect. Plus they were so nice as to take $100 off the bill from their donation supply. They felt bad knowing her story and how she was rescued.

Everyone at the vet loved her, they all took pictures and said they plan to add them to their website!

Glad to hear the vet was able to help/get you kitted out with goodies. Keep us posted on Princess.

(That was super adorable how she came to the window for help. They should type up her story for their site)
