Bad eggs?

Is it possible to have a chicken lay an egg with no shell...or a partially formed egg... And would they eat it.and if so how do you prevent this??? Thankyou

I have had a chicken lay an egg that was soft shelled. It looked like just the membrane part of the egg. The hens didnt eat it I was just suprised to see it.

feed crushed oyster shells to add calcium to strengthen the egg shell.
