Bad eye bird

Kid has reported one of our fall pullets has a swollen eye. Have sent spouse out to bother the bird and get photo.
Since they are late additions at the bottom of pecking order, she and her sister tend to wander around do their own thing. Not sure if there are any other symptoms yet.

I'm dealing with some medical stuff which has me working with birds less so coop hygiene is not what it could be.

Thoughts on diagnosis/treatments/next steps?

Looks like pink eye to me

It's not pink eye. Probably infected.

I would flush the eye with eye wash or saline, and then apply either Terramycin eye ointment or plain Neosporin to the eye twice a day. Look for watery or bubbles in the eye, gunk, or any nasal drainage, sneezes or other symptoms of a respiratory disease. It could be from pecking or a respiratory infection.
