bad eye on chick - please help

Please look at the picture below and let me know if you have any idea what it is and how to treat. This is Chocolate. She is an Americana. It started off as a bump on her eye and then has gotten worse and now has a white discharge in her eye.

The picture is a bit blurry, so it's hard to tell.
Terramycin eye ointment will help if it is a confirmed bacterial infection.

It's really hard to tell but it could be wet pox. Do a search here on the site for info.

I think you are right based on reading about it. A few of the other chickens had some black marks that look just like it too and they resolved after I put vaseline on them. I understand that there is nothing you can do for it and you have to just let it run it's course. Is that correct.

Sadly yes, as long as it's well away from the eyes you can use Iodine on the spots to help dry them up but that is about all that can be done.

Do I need to speerate the chick from the rest of the chicks? I read it is very contagious. If so, I feel so bad for it since it will be all alone. Also, do you have to sterilize the coop?
After reading more about it, it seems like it is a big deal for the other chicks!!!
