Bad hatch rate with shipped eggs- RANT...

I personally don't think the cold has the effect on eggs as bad as people think.
With so many of us hatching eggs out of the fridge I would rather risk my eggs traveling through a snow storm inside of a truck, with packages all around to keep the actual freeze out. When they are cold the white and everything is actually less viscus and stable. Eggs do not do well in the heat, I personally have more fear of a heat wave, with no way to cool the eggs as they go down the road in the metal truck absorbing the suns heat and melting everything inside.

As for getting shipped eggs, if you get a batch and they start to develop and then stop especially after day 18 I would have to question the person hatching. If I got eggs and they even developed in the least and then stopped I am ok with that. We know the risk.

I personally have an issue when you order eggs, and not even one single egg develops one single vain. If I was to get even a single blood ring I know the eggs had the chance of being fertilized. What really puts my underwear in a knot is when the eggs come, and you do not have any development. Zilch.. If you do not even get a vain or blood ring I then question fertility. Is that unreasonable? Would anyone else question that?

Got a question on shipped eggs. This is my first shipped eggs. I am now starting on my 4th day of incubation, on the 3rd day 1 egg was oozing (I know this is a sign of it being rotten). I just sent a email to the seller asking if this is normal, but I figured I might as well ask on her too. Is it normal? old egg? stress that made the egg bad? Any other bad thing to look for on any of it. (not trying to put a blame anywhere) Just looking for more info and/or what to expect.

I actually just threw a dozen silver laced cochins to the dogs- they were off e bay and none developed at all- The seller basically told me to suck it up- But on a good side 18 of 23 shipped eggs are now in lockdown!!! Finally -i see a light at the end of the ebay tunnel!!!

I got three orders of BO and I don't think more than 3 eggs, if that are gonna hatch. They are due tomorrow on the first Batch I received, and Friday on the second and third batch. Most of the eggs look full, but I don't see any movement. A lot of the air sacs look breached? Watery! In all fairness to the seller, we have had a bad winter and storms so far, so who knows?

You guys that posted about your postmen dropping or throwing your shipment of eggs should chew that guy's ear off. As I've said before, I carried mail for some years. And got chewed out PLENTY for things other postmen did but I'll tell you, I did listen. It's true that some people are just a-holes but even they don't really like being fussed at and will likely avoid damaging the next "fragile - eggs" package no matter what their reaction.

If you say nothing, then they figure what they're doing is 'just fine.'

Hatching shipped eggs can be very successful, I have had 100% hatches before from shipped eggs coming from a long ways away. Shipping eggs is one of the only ways to get birds from other sides of the country unless you try shipping chicks or adult birds. Eggs are just easier.
