Bad idea for brother sister mating?

Quote:
Am I missing something?? How do you know they are siblings? If they came from a pen with more than one roo, and more than one roo, meaning no real good records were probably keept, and even with only one roo, and multiple hens they would most likely be only with same Roo, depending on number of hens/roo.

I got them from a breeder and I am unsure of how many hens and roos she had of this particular variety. I just emailed her to to find out...

I just want to do this for fun but not at the expense of a little life. I won't try it if I think the chicks will be sickly.

ETA: they were exactly the same age when I got them so I am assuming they are brother/sister

Exactly the same age doesn't necessarily mean brother/sister. If the person has multiple roos and hens, they may not even be related at all.

Yeah, I just heard from the breeder and she has one roo but multiple hens so they may not be 100% related... now I can't wait until that pullet starts laying... YAY!!
