Ordered both Sebastopol Goose eggs and Shetland Goose eggs to incubate and came up empty. I gave them time to develop, saw no veins, finally opened them up to see unfertilized eggs from appearance. One offered to send more eggs if I paid the freight. I had just used the incubator to hatch call ducks and had a successful hatch, so I know it wasn't my incubator. I've ordered and had a few unfertilized before, but never all of them. Please be careful who you order from.

Seems many geese are having a bit of an off year. I've heard this from several people. Delayed spring maybe? Then again with shipping damage you know many won't grow no matter what you do.

Sorry to hear you've had no luck.

Sorry you had this experience.

If it makes you feel any better, once an egg has been incubated, there's no way to tell if it's fertile. So it's possible that they were fertile when shipped, but just got too damaged in shipping to be able to develop. I recently had a batch of chicken eggs shipped in and they were damaged enough that only two started developing and only one made it to hatch. Unfortunately shipped eggs are always a gamble.

Thanks. Someone told me that you could tell. That makes me feel a bit better. I just didn't understand how someone could send unfertilized eggs. They looked like they had survived the shipping, air cells were good. Maybe it was something that was not visible. I really wanted some Shetland Goose eggs. : ( I have had mostly a good experience with shipped eggs.
