*bad news* Incubating Double Yolker Dies...

Not every egg is fertile as I'm certain I will find out during my New Year's Hatch.
Better luck next time.

Guess I'll unsubscribe to this thread....

last year i had 38 eggs...but...39 chicks hatch... the year before...had 2 chicks more then eggs in incubator....believe me...i knew how many eggs i had and even went so far as piecing broken shells back together & recounting.... i do think it happens more often then what people think it does. good luck . and dont try removing the other yolk..nature will either allow chick to survive or not.. but would think you might have a chick hatch..either pretty messy...or even delayed not sure if it would be absorbing the other yolk also before hatching..also will prob be a larger chick then others.

Oh my goodness why would you try to remove the other yoke? Let the egg be! By opening the egg you will be signing this chicks death certificate. At least this way it has a chance! Bacteria is deadly for fetuses and the insides should not be messed with.
