Hi all! I have a problem that I’m not sure how to navigate... My quail eggs are in lockdown and about half have begun to pip. One egg I’m noticing is beginning to show oozing crystals and a bit of white mold on it. I’m sure it’s bad, but I don’t know if I should take it out or leave it in, so that I don’t risk shrink wrapping the chicks that are popping. None have hatched yet.

should I take it out quickly? If so, will I kill the pipped chicks?

Either way you go about this could be the wrong thing to do. I'd leave it and remove the hatched chicks as soon as possible. When you do remove the bad egg use paper towel/or some such to cover the egg before you pick it up as it's likely to explode or break easily. Try not to jar the incubator in the slightest.

Sound advice, thank you!
