I ordered some chicks from i deal a few months ack and i had to pay for them that day .

they were suposed to come in May but they changed the date until june . I got the call saying they came in and when i went to get them one of the 2 turkeys had died and when i went to go look at the chicks they werent at i orderd . I had ordered 2 polish and i also never got them .

i contacted ideal and they told me to contact the grain stoe tht toldme to contact them

What a shame. I'm not a fan of large-scale shipping, we have a local co-op that supplies day-olds and mine were less than 12 hours old, hydrated and healthy. I really think you need to find a supplier who will treat you and the chicks better- ask around, I'm sure that there are local breeders who will provide you with healthy chicks.

sorry, but to me it sounds like an issue with the grain store that you ordered them through. Not Ideal.
Ideal charges your account around 3/4 business days before they ship. Not on the day you place your order. I asked them to do this(charge when I ordered) and was told they could/would not.

BTW didnt you say in another post that you contacted Ideal to cancel the order, got a email confirming the cancellation but then still received them?

If so, and the order was placed for you by the grain store that might be why they were still shipped. Ideal probably had a large order for the grain store. Not for "you".
And, from what I gather. Some chick mortality does happens during shipping etc.

No i never cancled it . I couldnt . The grain store collected the money hen we gave them out order and when they plaved the order through ideal they sent the money . The chicks came in sepperate compartments with our names and the list of chicks that we had ordered

I have two orders coming from ideal...one due to ship on the 25th and one on the 30th. I requested that they charge my card the day I ordered and they did with no problems.

I totally agree. I got excellent service from Ideal. My account was charged two days before shipping, as I was told it would be. I went directly to them, not thru a grain store middleman. I lost two chicks in shipping out of 25 and I consider that an acceptable loss. They arrived at the beginning of April and it was still pretty chilly here. IDEAL CREDITED MY ACCOUNT FOR THE TWO LOST CHICKS ON THE SAME DAY I CALLED THEM. "Teri" at Ideal, who also is a member of this forum was extremely helpful through the whole process.
I have healthy, thriving chickens from Ideal and will definitely order from them again if or when I want more chicks. I too believe you have an issue with the grain store.

i agree with everyone else. i got my chicks from ideal, and i highly recommend them, they were so nice on the phone! and they charged my card 2 days before they shipped. i would call the grain store. good luck!

I have to chime in here. I agree that your issue is with the grain store ... not Ideal.

I ordered from Ideal and got 20 bouncing baby chicks (well five are Guineas) with no problems. They are now six weeks old and all doing great.

They charged my account two days before they shipped, just like they told me also.

I also got my chicks a day earlier than they said. I was very happy about that too.

I will definitely order through Ideal again.

I too had wonderful service from Ideal. This was the first time I've ever ordered chicks and I was very impressed. If I decide to order more in the future I will definitely order from them. I found their customer service to be wonderful.
