Its not meant to be a mean thread! Sorry you're having a rough time, my brother is dislexic and has another learning disability (prolly why he went into the Marines) so I know its tough, but just let us grammar freaks have our little group therapy session, we arent saying you're bad or that we dont want to see what you have to say, we are just having therapy!

Some people really need this avatar.

I have not read this whole thread and am not pointing fingers at anyone, just making a statement from a personal observation.

I am a notorious bad speller. I cant do it. Its a memory issue. Sadly, I have a high IQ and am relatively (sp) smart. And I have a large vocabulary and the ability to use the words correctly. I just have absolutely no spelling ability.

My husband screws with me all the time. I was elected treasurer for a committee the other day. he said "she can count, she just cant spell" and its the truth.

I am the secretary for the PTA. and all documents I do run through spell check, but here and other message boards I dont waste my time with it.

Maybe like deb I should just put it in my signature. But, honestly, I dont care. I have made a few enemies over the years because of it. They think its because I am stupid, or just dont care, or couldnt take the time to learn to spell, thats fine.
I am very upfront about it, I will gladly admit that I couldnt spell CAT if you spotted me the C and the T.

My extremely intelligent, successful husband is a wretched speller. If there were only 5 words in a sentence he wrote, at least 2 would be misspelled. Thank goodness for spellcheck. That's okay, he calls me the Queen of Run On Sentences. We are probably pretty even.

I do have one teeny tiny spelling pet peeve:

You lose your mind or your screws are loose. You don't loose your marbles.

It drives me crazy. I know it's silly, and I can take all other spelling mistakes in stride. But using loose instead of lose makes me bonkers, for really no good reason.

Oh, and it is extremely difficult to read a post without punctuation or capitalization. Fortunately it doesn't happen often.

My Mom isn't a very good speller at all. Once, on a grocery list, she wrote down "blubs" for lightbulbs. It's now a running joke in the family, and we call them blubs all the time for fun.

I have never spoke to anyone about grammer or puntuation as i don't know them and how they would feel. (Just not my place to do it)
IMHO i think it offends more people than those here realize.

You know, these threads never go anywhere productive, so I think I'll close this before someone else is offended. I am a terrific speller. My DH is a college grad and uses me as a human dictionary. He not dyslexic, just doesn't have the spelling gene.
