@U_Stormcrow and @3KillerBs as well as everyone else...I can’t thank you enough for your advice. I feel slightly more at ease and confident now. We will be building a bigger (and wider) run ASAP, and in the meantime I’m going to use the crate to make a safe place for the little ones inside the run, along with hopefully giving them their own space once my exercise pens arrive. They are all roosting side by side tonight, but daytime seems to be when issues arise.

You're welcome. We all needed help when we were new to chickens and had people here giving us aid and encouragement. :)

Just paying back some of the expert assist I received from expert posters here, when I began my chicken owning journey almost 14 months ago. Always happy to share my mistakes, in hopes that others might learn from them, without first having to repeat them! Very, very best to you and your flock.

This forum has been wonderful, I’ve been reading it since before I signed up. Many times that I’d search for the answer to a chicken question (roughly 100 times a day :p) it would lead me to this site. So I decided to sign up :)

You’re full of knowledge after just 14 months! I guess I’ll need to hang around here more often :D

I speak/type with confidence. It creates a greater impression of qualification and expertise than I perhaps deserve. In person, I'm an insufferable ass - but a useful one. Best in small doses.

Glad you found some benefit of it.

Agreed, first class advice from these two fine folks. What makes this place so great!!

That's really great news roosting together at night. Makes sense with the daytime issues due to run size but you are on the right track and you're going to be just fine, it's all going to work out. Keep us updated! I will doing exactly what your doing this weekend, fingers crossed........!

I’ve done what I can with what I have for now. Inspired by photos I saw on another thread here, I used the crate and made a door out of cardboard to allow the little ones to go in but keep the big girls out. I thought it was brilliant until I saw one of the big girls in there a bit ago  Looks like I have more work to do.

Your doing great and on the right track. Maybe provide an escape hole out the back in case big girls try to go in the little guys aren't trapped and can run out. Just a thought.......!

Just keep working on it. Things are getting better!
