Bad year for ticks???

I just killed one crawling over me a few minutes ago!!

I was out in the woods, so I don't know if I brought it in or the dog did. I'll be doing checks daily now to be sure the dogs don't have any.

Ewwwwwwww.......I had a spider crawling on me under the covers last week!! AARRGGGHHH!!! I hate, hate, hate spiders!! Cats all over the bed and I had to swat him with my slipper...then it took forever to get back to sleep. Guess, none of the cats *do* spiders.

I too, will be doing daily checks for ticks and nightly checks for spiders.

This is why I love my guineas more and more, even though there's 6 of them squawking at the back door right now

glad someone else noticed this and I am not just whinie-pulled a full blown tick off one of my dogs yesterday and realized I was just 2 days late on applying Revolution. I think the products DO work you just have to make sure you get it on when you're supposed to(maybe a little sooner?) in the 10 years I have used topical tick stuff have NEVER had an issue so the fat tick freaked me. found one in my hair last week(oooooooo) but at least they don't seem to attach. the cat had one in her fur(not attached) the day before the dog tick so that should have inspired me to reapply but... still think I dislike fleas more and at least haven't seen one of those on my dogs/cats in a decade(shouldn't of said that, here they come)

So Guineas really keep ticks down? When I eventually move to a place where I can have chickens I might invest in some of the loudmouths.

The ticks are absolutely terrible here this year, and of course I'm a flipping tick magnet. All winter while I was out hunting and trapping I had ticks on me...no ticks do not die in winter. I had 4 on me in one day while squirrel hunting for just a couple hours, one of which was imbedded..funny story with that. I was hunting with my brother and he'd keep poking me with twigs saying "That's what a tick bite feels like." I've had ticks bite me before but it'd been awhile...not even 5 minutes later I felt that same poke on the back of my leg...got home and yep, there was a tick.

About 2 weeks ago, I walked down behind my parents to pull my trail cam off a tree and my dog, my brothers dog, and my mom's dog came with me. We got back to the house and I pulled one tick of mom's, 2 off my brother's, and later that night, 3 off of mine. I'm using Advantix on my dog, does that work better than Frontline in all your opinions?

There are pesticides you can use in your lawns, but since I know someone mentioned not wanting to use any, I'm not sure what else you can do. Ticks don't crawl to move apparently, they attach to animals and then drop off someplace else when the animal walks.

ACK!! ACK!! ACK!!!! I just found one on my head!!! *FAINT!*....this after spending ALL day yesterday doing laundry and washing all of the bedding and anything else that would fit in there!! Of course.......now I have a headache. Maybe from worrying about ticks??!! Oh and of course it was embeded. WAAAAHHHHHHHH......I use Advantage on the inside cats and Frontline Plus on the outside/inside cats and the dog. I am allergic to bee stings and actually most bugga bugga bites so not sure what reaction I will have to this tick. Hopefully........NONE!
