I have a 3 month old pullet that got something wrapped around her leg. The injury is pretty serious, and she is under veterinary care. My concern is that the vet thinks the tendon is also slipped, but says that tacking the tendon after this injury will most likely be unsuccessful. My question. Can my little chick lead a quality life even with a bad leg? She puts very little weight on it and kind of scrambles around. I’m worried she will be picked on her whole life, and I’m trying to decide if I should continue treatment. I’m so sad for her.

It depends.

If she seems happy and unbothered by the poorly leg, than her quality of life is still there... I've noticed that my poorly hen Truvy isn't picked on at all by the hens she was raised with. this may vary flock to flock. Just monitor it.

If she seems bothered, lathargic, sick, etc then its not and it would be more humane to end suffering

Thank you. I would love to keep her, just wasn’t sure if I was making the right decision. She will never be able to scratch and peck like the other chickens.
