Hi all.

I'm new here and new to having chickens. Had 4 chooks for about 2 months now and 3 of them have started laying.
The first chicken to start laying has had an issue lately which has me really worried.
She had a really diahreah like butt and poop was just oozing out and down her feathers.
Then the next day she laid an egg and I noticed a lot of blood oozing down her feathers too. Lots of blood. I'm not sure if this was from the egg of from the other chickens pecking at her bum? I separated her from the other three chooks and have her her own spot to roost with her own food and water and she started to heal and stopped bleeding. She also stopped laying eggs. She also seemed weak and her red glove on top of her head wasn't very red maybe dehydrated? So I hand fed her water now and then. She also didn't want to move around much. Next few days She still has a badly poopy butt and it was really starting to become a mess. So I got some scissors and trimmed all the clumpy feathers right back to the skin. Didn't cut her thank god. But she let me trim her which was good. I think she knew I was trying to help.
So now the poopy feathers are minimal and I decided to take a look inside to see if she was egg bound or what was going on because every 30 sec to a minute it seemed like she was trying to push something out.
Then when she pushed, her whole insides were coming out and I noticed poop had fused its self to the inside of her duct. It was glued on. So maybe that's what she was constantly pushing for? I unwillingly got a cloth and poking devise to poke in there and carefully try to unstick the poop that was stuck and eventually got most of it. I couldn't get it all as I had to go to work.
So the next day of monitoring her I noticed her getting better. She had a nice red glove on her head and she seemed more active and wanted to scratch around the yard.
She still has a really badly poopy drippy butt and still has not laid another egg but she seems much happier and getting back to being healthy.
NOW... What the heck was/is wrong with her. Why is her poop constantly oozing out all over her feathers ( sort of a white clay colour )
Why is she constantly pushing as if she needs to poop non stop.
Why has she stopped laying eggs
What things can I try and do to fix the issue?

Try some Electrolyte in her water and you can get this at the feed store ....

She needs more protein in her feed so an hard boiled egg would give her Niacin vitamin B-3 & protein just what she needs and you were correct about her comb it really lets you know about her health ....

It sounds like vent gleet. Can you get her to a vet?

Also, keep washing her vent and feathers with warm water every day
You can use something gentle like baby shampoo or just plain water sprayed on from the nozzle.
Does she have any parts that are stuck on the outside of her body?

Yes she has poop on the outside from where it constantly drips down. Her feathers are all poopy and I've tried to trim her back as much as I can without going overboard. Today she did a normal poop. But still continued to push as if something was there. I inspected and she had poop just sitting on the inside of her vent. I got a stick type device and scraped the poop out. Strange that it's getting collected in there. Is that normal? Still no eggs from her yet. She is probably not feeling up to it. And she also feels smaller than before. She feels skinny. Can chicken lose weight easily?

Welcome to BYC. From what you describe, she could have had a prolapsed vent with the tissue coming out and the bleeding. Warm epsom salt baths would clean her bottom and soothe it. Keep checking her periodically for an impacted egg, because if her cloaca is damaged from a prolapse, it needs to heal, and egg binding could easily happen. Probios dispersible powder in her water 1/4 tsp per gallon daily, or a little buttermilk or plain yogurt would help. If she has vent gleet, an antifungal such as Nystatin, Mediastatin (online,) or fluconazole may help. Nustock cream to the vent may also help gleet.
