I do it every few days lightly, especially if it's gonna be very cold. I don't pack it on. Since it's wax, I think it stays a little longer than vaseline.

It doesn't seem to. I found that more things stuck to vaseline. When I do it, I do it when they are about to roost for the night. I haven't seen anything stick to it. Oh ok, I have seen that product advertised for dog paw before. I use the bag balm on my dogs paws also. I use very little and don't have a problem with stuff getting stuck all over it.
