I'm told it tastes the same as pumpkin, but I refuse to believe it.

I am a firm preacher of using ANY kind of squash for pumpkin pies....

But I hate yams/sweet potatoes....

I'm thinking of bringing a back-up vat of mashed potatoes in case my aunt over-garlics hers like she's been known to do in the past.

There's no such thing as too much garlic!

*breathes on you*

I don't personally think there is either, but DH and my parents beg to differ. You've never seen such

faces.

Mmmm, no, you can't really tell the difference.

I developed a love for sweet potatoes wthe the first pregnancy. Still LOVE them! Backed, fried, french fried, in a pie... YUM

ETA: NOT those things in a can, only fresh lumps of yummy root

Just had some baked lumps of root with butter and brown sugar for supper last night, in fact.

Butternut squash makes an awesome 'faux pumpkin' pie. We grew tons of them this year and I baked a bunch of them, pulped them and froze the pulp in freezer bags.

We had plenty of snow for TG last year, looks like this year may be the same.

I remember one year it was warm enough on TG morning that my horses were laying in the pasture taking a nap, so I went and leaned up against my old gelding and we had a wonderful TG morning nap together.

Not gonna do that in snowpants....

I have turkey decorations. I am hopeful that someday I may also have real turkeys to round out the theme in my yard.

My mom has a plastic light up turkey, that thing is funny.
