baiting hawks

i lost one of my cuckoo marans today to a hawk and i would like to know what to to lure them......i loved my cuckoo so much...

Just stating a fact, not an opinion, but hawks are Federally protected and if caught messing with/harming in any way has jail time and fines. A lot of us use the 3 S method. Shoot, Shovel, Shut-up.

I have one in my area but have not had to do anything about it yet. My LGD and cats and cockerel keep it away pretty good. And I am out with them a lot.

yea we were going to lure them to the other woods not shoot them but i get what your saying

You might want to encourage Crows to stick around your place. They are notorious for scaring off hawks.

you know funny you say that, i have been hearing a lot of them and the hawk level went down tremendously but i guess we need more!

Yeah I have been letting the crows stick around. Before chickens I used to run them off. Not anymore.

I shoot every crow I can. I can think of nothing they're good for. When I hear them in the distance, I turn on the caller and get a couple before they wise up. Then they'll steer clear for a few weeks.

No, I don't eat them. I've heard of folks that did, but I'm not that hungry yet. Why do you say it's a waste?
