Baked Mac and Cheese - A side dish?

Side dish in my opinion. It's on the school menu as a main dish here though

In my family it was always the main dish, but I know lots of people who use it as a side. Delicious either way!

Mainly as a side, but sometimes a bowl of easy mac for lunch is what the heart wants.

It should be a side dish. That being said, it can be a main dish but there needs to be something else with it. lol I have had Mac and Cheese parties where that's all anyone brings and you judge it to see what's better.

When we make it we try to use more butter- less milk. (Kerry gold and cream if possible).

Here in VA, we consider mac and cheese a side dish. I was just shown a M-F menu with today's meal being baked mac and cheese. Nothing else. Just mac.

Now I rarely refer to mac as baked, because that's the only kind we do around here. However, I still wouldn't fix just mac for supper. If I cooked Sunday supper at Mother Overo's house, and I just cooked mac.... everyone would be like ".??????."

What say you? Is mac a side dish or a meal?
