Chickens appreciate a kind gentle hand
they begin to recognize you're not intent on eating them.
I mean, maybe they interpret it differently? But it works, right? You love them, they got sick...no big deal, it happens. Praise your higher power that it wasn't something really terrible. There are much nastier things out there, this test for you and your chickens will have a great reward! It seems like a set back, but there is a purpose, just follow and do yo what you have to do, and see where your relationship develops with them. Happy hens makes for more eggs, right. How can a chicken feel good and safe and everything if they are terrified of you?!
If you show them affection and compassion, that language crosses barriers, we just have to listen. They love their momma hen, and the momma hen is the problem solvet, teaches everyone what they need to do to sur I live and to be in tip top shape. This is teaching your girls that you ha en their back. I think it's a great trust building exercise.
Anyway, speaking of huge disappointments in life, here is a dog that had failed out of childrens' search and rescue training school. Three weeks after it was adopted, it saved a baby that had been drowning? Not sure what the caption is about. It does not mention that in thw news clip. Enjoy!
